A retrospective review of 21 patients who received a Carbo-sealR composite conduit between 1993 and 1998 is presented. There were two early and one late deaths, none of them related to the conduit. At the closing of the follow up, the remaining patients were well and free of complications. It is concluded that the Carbo-seal conduit is a reliable device for aortic root replacement, though a much longer follow up and larger patient population are necessary to confirm these positive early results.
