With increasing use of homografts and autografts, especially in younger patients, the incidence of reoperations is expected to increase. Management strategies include aortic root re-replacement or simple aortic valve replacement (AVR) with a mechanical valve or a stented xenograft. In this series of 18 patients, a simple AVR was performed in 14 patients, while root re-replacement was reserved for patients with endocarditis or associated aneurysm (n = 4).
