Aortic Valve Reoperation
after Homograft or Autograft Replacement With increasing use of homografts and autografts, especially in younger patients, the incidence of reoperations is expected to increase. Management strategies include aortic root re-replacement or simple aortic valve replacement (AVR) with a mechanical valve or a stented xenograft. In this series of 18 patients, a simple AVR was performed in 14 patients, while root re-replacement was reserved for patients with endocarditis or associated aneurysm (n = 4). |
