| Receptor-Mediated Contraction of Aortic
Valve Leaflets Adrian H. Chester PhD, Martin Misfeld MD, Magdi H. Yacoub FRS Drugs or hormones that contract or relax the tissues that comprise the aortic valve, and thereby change its geometry, may be capable of interfering with the cross-talk between structures within the valve. We have investigated the contractile response or aortic valve leaflets to commonly encountered vasoactive agents, and show that cusp tissue possesses a diverse range of receptors that are capable of mediating contraction. |
