Successful Cox-Maze III Procedure Combined with Mitral Valve Replacement
in a Massively Thrombosed Left Atrium

We report a case of chronic atrial fibrillation resulting from long-standing rheumatic mitral stenosis complicated by a massively thrombosed left atrium in which restoration of sinus rhythm and atrial transport function is achieved following a Cox-maze III procedure with mitral valve replacement.
