Downward displacement of the aortic annulus is a very rare cardiac malformation, the etiology of which is not fully understood, while the surgical methods used for its correction are inconsistent. Herein is described a case of

downward displacement of the aortic annulus, together with a review of the current relevant literature on the subject.
