“We are stronger together than we are alone”
Walter Payton

The Journal of Heart Valve Disease was launched in 1992 with a mission to bring together all of the disciplines which target heart valve disease in all four corners of the world, and thereby enhance the understanding and treatment of this still too common disease. Within 18 months of its launch it was listed on Index Medicus, and has been at the forefront of publishing research and the results of clinical experience in the field ever since.

In 1999, building on its mission, the Journal of Heart Valve Disease was instrumental in the launch of The Society for Heart Valve Disease, an organisation for all those who share the Journal’s global and collegiate approach to tackling heart valve disease, and our Editor-in-Chief at the time, Dr. Endre Bodnar, became its inaugural President. At this time the Journal of Heart Valve Disease also became the official journal of the Society for Heart Valve Disease.

Today The Journal of Heart Valve Disease is read in 74 countries across five continents. Over the past 10 years we have published articles from clinicians, academics, research scientists, industry and the regulators in 52 countries across five continents, including:

We are proud to have maintained and promoted our mission throughout the last 21 years, and our Editorial Board, now led by Prof. Gino Gerosa, continues to seek out and bring together the world’s leading science in the field of heart valve disease.
