Abstract

The choice between biological and mechanical heart valves has significant implications for patient outcomes, including valve durability and associated complications. This review examines the long-term durability of both types of prosthetic heart valves, analyzing data from recent studies and clinical trials. We discuss the factors influencing valve longevity, the trade-offs between durability and other considerations, and provide a comparative analysis to guide clinical decision-making.
